Hi.
I had exactly same issue.
check you have a good earth back to the battery.
Check the brushes are not sticking in the holders and are freely moving back and forwards
The brush holders are riveted through the pcb. Mine had broken internally. Had to replace with small brass screw.

Re: What Oil
Hi I have a 500 and as the clutch is dry use VALVOLINE VR1 20w/50 Racing Oil. it has High zinc / phosphorus which provides extreme wear protection, including flat tappet applications. Ideal for older motors. Its a car oil not reccomended for bikes but a lot of brit bike owners use it.

Stripped motor before parts arrive. Everything looked ok. Sprayed GT85 over the brushes and copper armature. Re-assembled and tested on a spare battery and motor spun up fine. Fitted everything back on bike and the starter now works at treat!! I am none the wiser as to why the starter stopped workin...

Re: What`s your other bike ?
Had similar problem. Turned out the brushes in the motor had seized up so not able to move backwards and forwards in the holders. Strip motor down and Clean up with a good degreaser and spray with silicone oil. Its not flammable. If using wd40 let it dry before spinning motor or you could get flames...

Re: What`s your other bike ?
Sold a bsa and bought this new Enfield Interceptor in the summer. Great bike. Use the morini for classic meets and the enfield for longer journeys. Swapping left and right gear changes is interesting for the first couple of minutes but I get used to it very quickly now.
