Yep I have used the solid aluminium ones from Mdina.
Only out about 40 miles or so on it so far as not really been riding weather - too much rain, and I never that it out in the rain.
If we get a decent cold dry day I will probably stick a few more miles on it.

Re: Running in new rings
Took opportunity to take the bike on it's maiden run after the new rings / exhaust valves. Did just over 20 miles keeping the revs up / not letting it labour, did not take it any higher than about 6K. Did the 20 miles in 2 10 mile sections letting it cool off between runs. No dramas, ran perfectly. ...

Re: Possible disc replacements
Thanks for that, might give one a shot on mine.
If it gives the brake a bit more "feel" / makes it more progressive that will do me. As it is the brake is a bit binary !!
Seems to be a few on E Bay at the moment.

Re: Possible disc replacements
Twin disc Steve. Steve. Hello there was just reading through this thread and read your recommendation for a ST 955i cylinder - so all you have done is swopped out the stock master cyl for the ST 955i one, everything else is stock ? Only asking because mine has double discs, and despite the brakes b...

Re: Re Torque or not?
Thanks Norbert, I followed the guidance on torquing the head bolts in the Blue Book.
I'll keep an eye on things but I will remember to tweak the exhaust nuts.

Re: Re Torque or not?
Thanks for that George, good to hear from someone with experience.
To be honest I was not looking forward to having to take the valve gear off again.
Appreciate that the exhaust nuts will a re torque.
Just need some decent weather to get the new rings run in.

Re Torque or not?
I have always re torqued the head / exhaust fittings after the first run on any bike that I have had after a rebuild - just think it is good practice. Nothing in the Blue Book about re torqueing after the first after a rebuild. Any thoughts, just do as I always have ? Appreciate a re torque means ta...

Re: Snap, and then i was taught some patience
I have found Venhill cables a bit variable, quite literally. They are sometimes slightly over or under length, you can get around them being slightly long. Cant fault the workmanship, they are very well made. I have a pair of spare Vehnill throttle cables that came with the Morini when I bought it -...

Re: Have a laugh on me
Oh yes - they are definatley the right way around as per 45 of the blue book :D I even took the laptop out into the garage open at the page when I put the pistons in the second time !!! P.S. Started it up this afternoon, nice that it has lots of compression now - just need some decent weather to put...

Have a laugh on me
Got the 3 1/2 pretty well back together - I would have been much nearer completion had I not made a schoolboy error. Having re assembled the rear cylinder, I was just about to put the head on the front cylinder when I noticed I had fitted the pistons the wrong way around :x Although I had marked bit...

Very true not to overthink - there are so many differing views on the subject, I am sure it will be fine.

Re: Running in new rings
I have had lots of varying advice on this
Going to go for keeping the revs up, short bursts of high revs, longer periods of slower running, dont let it idle at first start up or when stopped in traffic
Reckon 20 miles or so ought to do it.
Hopefully have it back up together next week.

Re: Piston ring gap advice
Guess no one wants to commit to saying anything here in case it all goes wrong, which is understandable.
Done all the rings now they are gapped at 0.25mm, so we will see how it goes.

Running in new rings
What is the thinking about running in new rings in the glaze busted bores?
Been thinking slowly build up the revs and dont let it labour for a couple of hundred miles, or do I just ride it like I stole it?
Thanks.

Re: Kickstart oil seal question
Thanks - thought it had a "proper" oil seal and not just an O ring.
Not going to take the cover off just to fix a little drip, so it will have to keep dripping for now.
Thanks for the sidestand advice, TBH I very rarely use it.
