Wheel bearing tapered washers
Having installed new wheel bearings I forgot which way around the tapered washers went. They must have a use as they are tapered. Do they go inner race in or outer race in? I'm trying to work out their function as the spacers or spindles usually press against the inner part of the race. Thanks. Mike.

Re: Speedo converter
The problem I find is the kmh dials means most of the speedo is unused and trying to discern your speed is difficult. eg 50mph is where 30mph would be on an mph speedo.
Better to mark up the speedo and live with the kilometres on the odometer in my opinion.

Re: new to morini
That light was on the earlier models and yes it stays on.
If your's is 1980 it probably didn't have that light... maybe, possibly

Re: new to morini
I think the earlier 31/2s didn't come with indicators (not mandatory in the UK until about 1982 anyway) so the red light on the earlier models became the indicator repeater on the later models.

(No longer) Wanted - rear wheel bearing spacer
My bearing spacer for the rear wheel is seized to the bearing outers. I intend destroying one bearing so I can knock out the other then remove the remains of the bearings from the spacer. I may end up ruining the spacer. Just in case, has anybody a spare cast rear wheel bearing spacer, please? Part ...

A picture would be good. You need to reduce the photo size to quite small. I use a jpeg reduction website. You can then attach a photo. My 81 Strada has an electronic tacho, no neutral or oil lights, chromed plastic indicators. Others have black indicators, mechanical tachos etc. Just enjoy the ride.

Re: 500 electronic ignition
Legs of Popeye and spinach every day? Do you stir fry them and serve with a sauce? I'll get some photos and me coat The first photo shows the circuit board and the rotor at TDC (approx) on Cylinder 1. It is timed to the trailing edge of the cutout on the compression stroke. The second shows the coil...

Re: 500 electronic ignition
I managed to kick start the bike first kick, even in my parlous state. The only kick back was when i turned on the ignition and the plugs sparked and it burnt off the remaining fuel in one of the cylinders, but not a huge kick back. The board has a red light which is on when the cut out is in the wa...

Re: 500 electronic ignition
It'll be a while yet, I am recovering from a tendon operation and can't get my foot on the foot peg, although things are improving. Steve, I agree with the rotor problem. It would be better to use the existing key on the cam and slot the circuit board. The ease of getting the timing correct (set pms...

Re: 500 electronic ignition
Sounds reasonable. I changed as I was having problems and decided the stator need a rewind. Looking at the cost (if I could find anybody to do it anyway) I thought I might as well buy a new system as usually with the Law of Sod once one things breaks other components will follow. Anyway, if I am hap...

Re: 500 electronic ignition
Some great information , one thing to consider is to fit a relay to negate the old wiring and use the old coil wire to trigger the relay then you will get the full 12V feed coil_diagram.jpg This is my next project after I have road tested the bike. I only have 0.1 volts drop from battery to coils a...
