Re: Chokes
Many of the Morinis Ive had over the years would only start on one choke, then Id 'juggle' one or other to warm the bike up evenly, without it revving its (cold) nuts off. You might find you get better starting with flip-up chokes and the option of 'either/or'

350 Rolling Chassis Wanted
Ive got a homeless engine so would consider giving a 350 minus engine or with a shot engine a good home.

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Ive probably only done 50 miles since the last stripdown, but with revised float-height, I didnt get the broiling cloud of blue-smoke on start up and some smoking when I rode off seems to have died down (*fingers Xd*) Where are you in N Wilts? There are a few of us old-school Morini owners around th...

Re: I need help, somethings not right
Thinking laterally, I had to relieve at least one of the oil-pump mounting screws (I forget how many now) to clear the Primary-gears on one of my engines. Could it be something like that, and removing the plugs just reduces compression/resistance enough to turn it over?

Re: 350 SILENCERS WANTED
Thanks for getting in touch. They are actually for a friend. i will ask him if he's still looking or bought them. How much do you want for them? Obviously the postage will be quite expensive

350 SILENCERS WANTED
My Morini owning mate is on a bit of a budget and both his (Busso or Sito) 350 silencers have rusted through. Anyone got a pair of good non-rusty 350 silencers in chrome or stainless they would sell?

Re: Smoking Engine - Eureka I THINK
Well have just come in from the garage. After trying a different barrel, matched piston and new rings to no difference, the next thing was suggested to me by Chris Meyhew at NLM (thanks Chris!) - swap the carbs over, it could be fuel washing the oil off the bores. I took the carbs off, and just thou...

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Hi Steve, I did have a look with the rings off, and there's nothing obviously wrong with the piston from the bike.

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
no the rockercovers are internally identical to match the ditto heads. the bike smoked pre and post deglazing but i take your point. i wonder why the v experienced engineers havent considered/mentioned the piston? they dont look very scuffed or anything but im willing to try my other barrel and pist...

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
The engineers I used, either already knew or took advice, and used a paste and kept well clear of stones. They said it did need deglazing though

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Maybe it's time to dig out the spare barrel & piston and get it checked/deglazed... It was smoking before I had it glazebusted (with paste not stones), so I dont believe it's my engineer who's ruined it. They measured the bore and declared it unworn and it does LOOK fine Ive got the Nikasil outf...

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Hi , I am using a plain tube to vent the crankcase after using a baffled one that actually wasnt blocked either. I am using chrome 501 rocker covers but Ive taken both breathers apart and can blow through them. Ian, even if the barrels are porous, surely the nikasil lining will act as a barrier. I d...

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Ive had them for 30 years and Morinis dont routinely smoke like this..... Cars back off to escape the swirling cloud of oilsmoke I leave in my wake. Ive only seen primitive prewar 2-strokes on the Banbury Run produce anything akin to my engine I have been running the rings in with extreme prejudice ...

Re: Smoking Engine - Any thoughts?
Engine and both rocker-cover breathers are checked or blown through and clear, but yes, a blocked breather would give me the symptoms
