Bikes first sold in Italy only have frame numbers, no engine number.

Just had a quick look at the the bike on the Classic Bike site and I think your right, tanks wrong, clip-ons aren't original. Probably a nice bike but not a 74 DBS, but at 74 DBS money.

I've used Ariete 8mm thick wall lines with spring clips, nice secure with the clips but not a big struggle with them released.

My guess is someone has added it for a little pre-load or to compensate for age compressed springs. The order looks right though.
