Left Hand light Switch - New York

Post by steveyhod »

Hey there,

Moving rapidly (?) on with New York. The previous owner had butchered the elctrics and replaced the cockpit with a couple of LEDs as previously mentioned. This included chopping off the Molex connectors which connected the main loom to the the headlight, cockpit and the Left Hand Light Switch. I can reconstruct, but to help, it would be good to source a left hand light switch along with its wire and connector.

Surprisingly the NY, Dart and Excalibur (non-Kokusan) are different part numbers. I though Morinis had gone modular at this point.
46.02.94 New York
80055755 Dart
46.02.66 Excalibur Non-Kokusan

Does anyone have a Kokusan version of the Excalibur parts book and can advise the part number for the switch, and if it's the same as the NY. Has anyone got a spare one for a Kokusan Excalibur? I understadn many Excaliburs have been broken for their motors.

Thanks in advance

Steve

I don’t have a kokusan Excalibur parts book.

However the switchgear is different for kokusan and non kokusan models which explains why non-kokusan Excalibur is a different part number to kokusan New York.

I’m pretty sure kokusan New York and Excaliburs use the same switchgear, but you might find the cable lengths are different to allow for the Excalibur’s ape bars.

Darts have the clutch perch integrated into the switchgear casting which the custom bikes do not, which is why dart and New York have different part numbers

I am keeping the bike and am not looking to sell the spare. The one on the bike is beginning to wear. Happy hunting.

I'm not sure if this helps in any way whatsoever, but I did a bit of digging using the part numbers mentioned and came across this:-

https://www.ricambi-ducati.it/ducati-mo ... ezzo/67950

If you click on part number 460294 it goes to this:-

https://www.ricambi-ducati.it/ducati-mo ... one/460294

The Italian text says:-
For pricing and availability of this part, please contact us.
Description. The SX501excalib/92 switch part number 460294 is an original Ducati spare part and is exactly the same as the one installed on the vehicle when it left the factory.

So, it may be worth searching the Ducati parts dealers?

You are after a CEV 303. If you find the right switch hardware, even if the wiring is too short or a different pin out that can be resolved reasonably easily.

These are available used and if you can find them new from time to time.

There is a new one listed on eBay from nonsolofrecce (who I have bought from in the past)

Thanks Tom
I had some indicators from these folks.

Looks like they have a few variations, with interesting price variations and one which is the correct length and configuration Will follow up.

Yes, finding one with the correct functions may take a bit of time as some of the scooter ones don’t have the high/low switch.

But with the code you can at least search for the model family.

I’ll look out for one at novegro too in a few weeks- let me know if you find one in the meantime

Thanks Tom
Julian has found one and is sending it through. So I should be good now. Also I have sourced a main loom with all its connectors, so I now have everything I need either on the way or on the shelf.

Thanks all for advice and wise counsel. I am so appreciative of everyone’s help.
