Road Tax for older vehicles

Hi,

Got this from the ILOC.

In 1997 the Government decided to change the rolling 25 year tax exemption to a blanket vehicle must be manufactured before January 1st 1973. There is a petition to reinstate the rolling date (30 years for some reason).

Just think, anything older than 1981 would be tax emempt if this succeeds, most of the older Morinis.

Thanks,

Mike.

In the budget they have change the historic tax status so that now vehicles pre 1974 are included. No idea why but great news if you have a vehicle manufactured in 1973!

The reason for the fixed cut-off date was to prevent vehicles like the Morris Ital becoming 'historic'.

Thanks Paul!

Presumably all the Itals have expired now, hence the relaxation?

Good riding,
