Import bike registration

Post by Tinker »

Hi how easy is it to register a bike if it is an import but doesn’t have a nova certificate? Or what are the pitfalls? Thanks

Impossible I would say. Even barn finds that never left the UK have to go through a process to declare their existence and some story of how they have appeared again. Not NOVA but you have to deal with the same authorities that issue NOVA certs. I went through the process 5 years ago, but with the latest DVLA announcements things may have eased for barn finds.
So, for a definitive answer you will have to contact DVLA, HMRC etc! Sorry!

Contact Arthur the club’s machine registrar. He has successfully guided several members through this process.

You will still need a NOVA but if the bike has been in the UK since before the NOVA system was introduced it’s a slightly different route.

I second the "approach Arthur for guidance". He guided me through the process of successfully registering my 250 2c after rebuilding it from a box of bits. It had very little history.
