dart wiring schematic

Post by lemans »

I've searched the internet and this forum but couldn't find what I'm looking for.

- wiring loom of a Dart including ignition details
or
- schematics of a kokusan ignition systems, from sensor to coils.

I've also posted an advert in the 'wanted'section.

check the wiring diagram for the cagiva elefant/ducati 750/ducati 900
they have the same ignition sytem

if you need more info let me know.
i can check on the dart at home.

There is a wiring diagram in the members area.

But I’ll send you an email with it.

What specific issue do you have? Quite a pool of knowledge on this forum I’m sure someone can help.

I find quite often that the dart looks corrode a long way down the wires, making it hard to satisfactorily repair.

I made a new loom for my dart about 10 years ago. Not overly complicated especially if you have an original to copy. Not had a single electrical issue since.

the issue is if the Dart has standard ignition coils, as used with contactbreakerpoints or are the kokusan coils in reality only transformers used with a CDI-type of ignition.

3 ohm primary resistance , so pretty normal coils.

which (without further research) is a bit surprising.
the kokusan fires ervery revolution, so a wasted spark setup. the charging time for a wasted spark-ignition at 8500 rpm is max 7,05 milliseconds. if you distract the 0,5 millisecond for the spark then it is even less. so the coil must be fully energized in 6 milliseconds.

a std 3 ohms-coil time to re-energize is at least 10 milliseconds. at least the std 3 ohms-coil I'm using on my BSA, MG and MM500. but these are all 2 revolutions per spark setup.
but I'll start with a std-coil and see what can be achieved
