Body panels

Post by SupermotoDave »

Have any owners out there reinforced the bodywork panels? Mine has some repairs but the original plastic is now so brittle I am thinking of reinforcing all the edges especially around the fastener holes before they snap so I don't lose the bits if it happens on the road.
I suppose the dream would be carbon fibre but I should think a fine weave glass fibre would do the trick as it is mostly unseen and if one decides not to get too stressed over adding a couple of kg to the weight of the bike.

The big problem is getting any kind of bond to the vaccum formed plastic.

The plastex repair system will bond and you can use it to encapsulate reinforcement; http://www.repairproducts.co.uk/page20.htm

HC Racecraft don't seem to be around any more, but try Olaf.
