Re: Admin
Hi Tom.
My PM Inbox says 'Folder is 84% full (42 out of 50 messages stored)'
Basic but genuine question - how do I delete the old PMs?

Re: Admin
To the right of all your messages in your PM inbox or sent mail there is a white tick box. Tick the ones you want to delete and then if you scroll down to the bottom of the mailbox there is a dropdown menu. One of those options is delete selected. Choose that, hit ‘go’

Re: Admin
Thanks Tom.
I have now deleted the vast majority of the PMs in my Inbox and Sent messages.
I also noticed a box which was marked 'rules, folders & settings'. I clicked on that, and then changed the rule from 'Do not accept new messages (New messages will be held back until enough space is available)' to 'Delete oldest messages'.
After that I logged out and logged in again. Unfortunately the test PM you sent still isn't there.

Re: Admin
I did check junk mail, nothing received. Emails from the club arrive safely.
Matter of interest, I did get a notification in red at the top of the forum, not had that before.
Also, Ive been trying to PM another member, when replying to a received message I'm hitting the reply button but nothing being sent to the other member, it appears when I hit reply its been sending the messages back to me.

Re: Admin
Jenny, have you tried 'subscribing' to a particular topic?
phpBB forum setups have their little quirks and the one I have most to do with has problems getting mail delivered to BT addresses for some reason. We have tried tweaking the DMARC settings for that domain but still issues for some users. This is a server level issue which forum configuration changes cannot always address.
BTW ,Tom, I'm conscious that I haven't been keeping my end up on the new user activation front. Been a bit distracted lately and actively avoiding too much screen time but I'll try to keep a closer eye on it in future.

Re: Admin
I don't really know what that means, Pete. To be honest I'm not particularly bothered about receiving notifications although it would be handy to be notified if someone sends me a PM. I look in on the Forum most days but I don't always log on, so a PM could easily go un-noticed for several days.
Re: Admin
As Tom suggested, you can check what you should be notified about here:Morini Jen wrote: ↑11 Jan 2026 10:42I don't really know what that means, Pete. An Admin can't do this for an individual user only globally for some settings. Can be done using SQL at server level but shouldn't be necessary. Presumably you do see a notification of a PM once logged in:

Will send one to check.

Re: Admin
Thanks for your help.
I don't know how it happened but I received an email notifying me of the PM you sent. I logged on to the Forum and it was there in my Inbox. The PM that Tom sent the other day wasn't there.

Re: Admin
Curious. Perhaps a change Tom made after he sent the PM , so that one didn't trigger a notification. No worries. You seem set up now to receive the notifications you most want to get.
