1200 Granpasso Replacement Regulator Needed

Hi Chaps,

Bike (2010 GP) is currently incapacitated with a blown regulator.

2 questions.

- Anyone know where I can get hold of one fairly quickly in the UK?
- Im told by some of the Pompone boys that a regulator from a 98-02 Honda VFR 800 is compatible. No reason to doubt them but does anyone know if this is correct before I get hold of one and fry the ECU!!

An italian guy is trying to help me source an OEM one in Italy (they are a Kokusan Denki item), but just looking at all the options to get it back working asap.

Cheers for any help.
Gareth

If it is the same as a corsaro part, i used a ducati multistrada 1000 as a replacement.

some of the wires a different colour but all go to the same locations

can be picked up as a pattern part, new at a reasonable price

got a spare new one if you interested (multistrada new pattern part)

TRy http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/ they can probably match the part number if you have it, or offer a Ducati model if you are willing to try it

All now sorted.

For those that may suffer the same. The regulator from a 2008 Ducati 1098 is a perfect fit, works a treat.

Mine's gone as well now, at 9000 miles. It's gone into 3x who can get a new one for under £100. The GP conked out 100m short of the workshop after a 100 mile ride with fingers crossed.

It turns out that 3x now can't get a replacement that easily. After a week of trying I have sugggested the Ducati 1098 part recommended by geh007. Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know why the regulators have blown? Doesn't sound ideal if you're in the middle of a trip (as I'm planning next May...)

Cheers,

CC

3x didn't seem surprised. They haven't given me a reason as yet, but I'll find out when I (eventually) pick it up.It still hasn't been fixed yet. I'm glad mine went when it did as my next ride would probably have been a long trip to Italy :| It was horrible trying to nurse it to the garage with dying electrics. I wouldn't relish trying that abroad.

Apparently the Italian built Yamaha Teneres are having reg/rec problems. Don't know if it's the same unit. In that case it seems poorly waterproofed connections are the root cause. Plus ce change...

The rectifier/regulator has finally been replaced (under warranty). I've no idea what was wrong with it as it is apparently a sealed unit.I hope this one lasts longer than 9000 miles.
