Oil leak

Hi,
Anyone else got problems with oil leaks with Veloce? This one is quite diffucult to locate, because it does not leak under speed of about 120km/h. And at this speed the the engine is covered with oil because of wind.

A quick look with leak detection fluid shows that the chain tensioners gaskets and gaskets of cylinder head covers are the most likely ones that leaks.

Is there any oil ventilation system in this engine? Some kind of breather?

Sorry kCo, I can't help you, but I was just wondering how many Kays on your Corsaro, what year model and what sort of riding yo do on it?

page 164 of the workshop manual 01/06

lists a screened plate (blow by) which is just below the cylinder head. Not sure if it's relevant


PAGE 44 01/06 shows a picture of what i'd assume to be an oil breather pipe to the airbox as that's where they normally vent to .

Year is 2007 done 20 000 km

Did 15,000 miles (24,000 k) on mine and went through 3 services without this. When did the problem first occur - was it just after a service?

Havn't seen any other Corsaro - or other watercooled Morini for that matter - with a similar problem. Could be a faulty gasket, which I think is what Twisty is implying?

My 2008 Corsaro leaked oil under load from new and took the dealer 20000 km to work it out. There is a rubber plug that leads from the front cylinder head to the bottom of the air box and during assembly sometimes they would crimp the edge of the plug which results in poor sealing and oil blowing out of the top of the front cylinder when under load. Whilst I was waiting for a replacment I was advised to remove the airbox cover, extract the plug, smear some black gasket goo around the head entry side and re-install. Bingo - problem gone!

So far, so good. Rear cylinder head cover was the reason of the oil leak. Second problem Air box bolt are rusted so tight that the nut spins inside the air boxes bottom. Looks like I have to order a new airbox top and bottom

Does anyone have knowledge about the oil breather? Located at right side of the air filter box? This one is stille leaking. Any ideas for repairs?

In my bike can be the same problem as yours. It is leaking oil between the cylinders, especially when driving at high load, and when using engine braking. Do you have a picture of that plug so I can be sure that it is the right part of the air box? Did you remove the plug completely for repair or is it even possible to remove it without breaking?

Apologies for not responding earlier. You can access the plug via the airbox without too much drama. The plug is located at the bottom of the rear brake side of the air box. Lift the tank, remove the airbox top, gently pull the plug clear of the airbox. If the plug is the problem it will be damaged. I didn't replace the plug, I just smeared some black gasket goo onto the shaft and re-inserted the plug. Bingo, oil leak gone!
