2007 Corsaro - Won't start. Anyone have a parts manual??

Post by Giddyup9999 »

Hey all,

My wife has a 2007 Corsaro, loves it, doesn't ride it enough but that's a whole another story.

Anyway, it won't start at all now. I ripped out the battery and checked it. It has enough cranking amps to start a small car I've been told so that's ok.

Anyone have any other ideas from there?

Also does anyone have the parts manual and owners manual for this also please?

Cheers.
Dan.

Does it turn over?

If not, check the solenoid fuse, the solenoid is in the weather at the front of the tank. There is a spare fuse in it. My one stopped and the fuse had a corroded leg, which was broken in two. I think there may be a Manual in the Members' Area.

Yes, what Mickey says.

The fuses by the starter relay are a weak point. The modification was to drill a small hole in the corner of the fuse holder cover to allow water to drain out, and a liberal application of electrical grease.

The starter relay and these pesky fuses are on the left hand side, behind the radiator.

The workshop manual is indeed in the members area, if you are a paid up club member (well worth it)

Finally, make sure the bike doesn’t think it’s in gear (even if you know it’s in neutral- check what it says on the dash) and try with the side stand up & clutch pulled in- as these safety interlocks can prevent it from allowing a crank.

If you need to jump start it from a car, rather than trying to get onto the battery (a pain as you have to remove the seat and it’s hard to safely get on a battery terminal) I use the Positive terminal at the starter relay and a good earth point on the engine or frame.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look and see what I can see. The battery is fine as far as I am aware and have had it tested. The wife doesn't ride it very much as she can only go out on it with me which isn't often (only has a 250cc licence still). I have a Ducati Diavel myself but the Morini is a nice addition to the garage also and not many around.

I had to replace the relay on my ‘08 after the bike had not been started for a while.
It did ‘click’ but did not actually make continuity between the big terminals.
Very similar if not identical relays are fitted to many bikes so sourcing and fitting a replacement is not difficult or expensive.

So I decided to change a few things.
I replaced both the fuses as suggested, then went on and replaced the air filter and both spark plugs. Turns out the spark plug under the tank at the back still had the cap on it  Anyway, I replaced both with new and the rest and it seems to run again. Threw some injector cleaner through it before filling up the tank and then took it for a spin. Needs a tune up I reckon but she is alive.
Cheers gents.

Hi,

It may need just an Italian Tune Up... :)

Give it big licks! (ie a fairly long run, 'making good progress' as the Police motorcycling handbook used to say...)

Exploring the upper reaches of the engine's rev range!

...whilst trying to keep the front wheel on the ground and the patrol car out of the mirrors!
