Corsaro 1200

I've just registered.
I rode a demo Corsaro Veloce on Saturday at my local dealer, just 10 minutes up the road from my home. The bike had covered just over 200 miles so I kept the tacho needle shy of 6000rpm. I have to say that I was mightily impressed with its grunt, despite my self imposed restraint with the throttle. I'll be back to the dealer in a few weeks, once its been run in, to see how it really goes.
My only negative impression on the short 10 mile run was that the fuelling at 30mph is not very smooth. The bike was fitted with Termi's (baffles removed) and race mapped ECU. Is this a common complaint, or can the fuelling be adjusted to smooth out the. I've read here that these bikes also suffer from excessive play in the cush drive.
Are there any other issues I should know about concerning the Corsaro.
I could be tempted to sell my superb Triumph Thunderbird Sport, and replace it with a Corsaro 1200, which will share my garage with my much modified Triumph Thruxton and Honda Firestorm track day bike.

HI - if you delve throught the forum you can get a good concensus of opinion.
But heres mins as a CORSARO owner with 5,000 miles on the clock bought form new in 2008.
The fueling below 3,000 rpm is not as smooth as on my preious bike a MotoGuzzie V11 and on friends Jap 4 cylinder bikes. However, consider that it is a 1200cc short stroke Vtwin with 140bhp than its going to be "twitchy" on-off the throttle.
I am in the process of changin the ECU map to ignore the Lambda probe and pigybacking a PC3 and then having a dyno run to see if I can "smooth" out the low end response. Results will be posted on the forum.
I have suffered form what I consider to be excess free play in the cush drive. About 10-15mm or relative rotation. Morini are replacing the rubber but as they were shut over August (Italy) i have packed out the drive using inner tube rubber and the results are much better.
The CORSARO is a good bike with a GREAT engine. If you watch the press there engine is being worked on to liberate 170bhp to go on a faired sports version. So the engine is under stressed at 140bhp

how does it feel with the de-cat? a bit more powerful in the midrange? how much did it cost you in the end?

Franky - De-CAT exhaust from QD in Italy cost 420Euro excluding German VAT at 20%, which i avoided by buying it through a friends business.
I fitted the exhaust in 2 hrs on Saturday, and took it for a run in the wet!
Big mistake as the extra surge is evident all the way through the revs. No idea yet on the extra bhp but its supposed to be 8-12 and it certainly feels like it.
I have not yet been able to get the bike on a dyno to get the PowerComander mapped to suit the exhaust & bike. I'm running on the standard PC111 map which seems OK for now.
After Donnington track day (monday after WSB) i will send the std ECU off to Germany and have the map replaced with the termi race map (ignores Lambda probe data) and then the TPS re-set at my local dealer.
Then the bike can go fo a dyno at a local Aprillia specialist. - I will post the results then.
By the way ManaicMotors can now offer a seat cowl (unpainted 200Euro) which with the rear pegs removed looks great. They also do a set of upgraded adjustable rear sets and are workinh on engine mods to get the bhp up around 170 at the crank!
i'm happy for now with mine looking 100% standard but packing 130 (iestimate for now) bhp at the wheel.

I'm interested to see how much of a change it makes, 170bhp at the crank can't be that hard as if your bikes putting out 140bhp at the wheel thats already 155ish at the crank.
any chance you'd be able to get another de-cat at that price
my new engine is in now, just got to pick the bike up when work allows.

franky - just to correct
it is only my esimation at present that I "should" be seeing 130bhp at the wheel based on a CAT free exhaust PC3 and race map.
Time will tell when I get it on a dyno!
My estimation comes from maniacmotors and the fact that the std bike is supposed to have 130-140 at the crank so add 10-12 from the CAT and race ECU & PC3 then 130 at the wheel seems feasible.
I wont be in germany again this year so can't help out on the VAT free CAT pipe. - Sorry.

After a chat wih nfitz i have looked into getting QD de cat pipes i can get them no problem, price is £415 including vat if anyone requires a set just let me know.

it'd be good to send a set to motad or someone similar and get them to copy it....... should be able to do them for 200quid each then!?

Motad are only cheap because of the large volume runs they do,unfortunately there is just not enough demand (YET) i will look into other suppliers but i think cost wise will be roughly the same.
