Valentini Replica
Re: Valentini Replica
My Sport has Sito pipes at present but they are beginning to go at the ends. Does the RMS allow use of mainstand ans sidestand?

Re: Valentini Replica
Yes, both side and centre stands retained on my RMS equipped k1.
If you have rearsets, the RMS can be a bit of a challenge in the rear downpipe clearance department on the disc rear braked bikes. In the past I’ve relieved the tarozzi hangar to clear the pipe and that’s been ok but my current set is a slightly different form and there was no way at all it was clearing. Not sure if that’s just production variation or if they tweaked the design at some point to better suit it.
I got around the issue with some custom footrest hangars which sit even further back (and I actually prefer that riding position).
My set which Julian has, which are candidates for having copied, are the ones which did fit the k1 better.
My K1 will be at the rally if you wanted a good look

Re: Valentini Replica
A quick update:
I've spoken with Dennis and he is willing and able to make new editions of the exhausts; price TBD - somewhere around the £600 to £800 and they exhaust would be in Stainless Steel. He has two proposed approaches to making an exhaust:

- Creating a jig that someone pays for as part of the work, and then using that jig for the first exhaust and any subsequent ones.
- Fitting the exhaust to the bike, where he'd need the actual bike the exhaust is being fitted to. This can be a same day job once he's done the preparatory fabrication of the exhaust.
FYI:
- He's had so many problems with the quality of mild steel tube that paradoxically using stainless steel is less expensive overall as it's easier to weld to the desired quality.
- He doesn't charge VAT, the prices are net
- He's learned require the bike and/or a jig because of variations in the bike frames, etc. and as many of us know with the Lambertini Moto Morinis they do sometimes vary in their construction

Re: Valentini Replica
Julian- thanks for speaking to Dennis. Did he give any idea of the cost of a jig- granted it’s extra cost but the alternative would be to produce a batch using someone’s bike to fit to, else everyone needs to take their bikes to him. That would tie someone’s bike up for a while and risk them all being made to fit that one bike only!
Rick- thanks also for the offer. Personally I would say there is quite a difference between an RMS or Valentini and the NLM system, and if the trouble and cost is being taken to copy a system it ought to be the RMS and Valentini systems.

Re: Valentini Replica
Tom, he didn't give me an actual price for a jig - in my head during the conversation I got the idea it might be around £500 but that's only my guess. For the 350's it might be useful to compare the fit on a K and on a pre-K frame (I have both bikes).
One option to consider is to spend a couple of £1,000's to get a set of jigs making together with one of each type of exhaust. If there were say 5+ club members who'd be willing to buy a new exhaust made by Dennis that might be enough to justify the expense. Even I don't need one of all the exhausts (I don't have any 500 framed bikes as my New Yorks have a sufficiently different frame not to count as 500's) and I have a Valentini for the 350 (and a similar s/steel exhaust made in the UK).
I'm certainly willing to help organise and co-ordinate. I could lend Dennis my K and non-K bikes for a while but would need to get them to him and then collect them again later. I don't think we've reached a critical mass of people who want to buy the new exhaust systems yet though.
Once the Track Day and the Rally are over, i.e. from July onwards perhaps we'll have a better idea of which of these exhaust systems would be worth pursuing as a club and/or a group?
Thoughts anyone?

Re: Valentini Replica
Julian,
I think there may be a market for Riservato Competitioni 'silencers'.
Thought about replicating these? I know this started out as Valentini, but appears to have expanded to RMS (but not Ricci Racer!).
Advantage is no need for downpipes. Disadvantage is two silencers!
Mike.

Re: Valentini Replica
An interesting thought, and timely as I'm considering buying a new set of 250 2C silencers from Italy. My first thoughts are that a 2-1 system based on RMS and/or Valentini might be simpler to make than a high quality reproduction of a beautifully shaped 'silencer'. Also, I don't have any of the silencers to hand, I do have valentini and RMS systems. Can you send me some info about these please (you have my detailsMickeyMoto wrote: ↑06 Jun 2024 20:34 Julian,

Was there ever any progress made on 350/500 Alldens pipes?
