250 2C instrument surround

Post by BarryCambs »

Hi all

The plastic on the clock surrounds has started to dsintegrate with age and one of the mounting holes has now broken up completely.

Do you know if these are the same as any other model, so I can widen my search?

Many thanks!

Hi Barry,
The same instrument surround was fitted to the 250T but that's even rarer.

Better is that you can use the surrounds from the 83-86 X, X1 and X2 Kanguro 350 and also Camel 501 models.
Part number is the same 32.01.22 (which replaces the earlier 250 2C/2T part) - again an example of Morini re-using part numbers.
The mounting distance on the top yoke is the same and the clock fitting is the same.
These will give extra idiot lights one of which can be used for indicator repeater for example
The ignition switch should fit OK.
importantly they seem to be more reinforced around the switch area.

We have a 501 camel version on our 250.

The Mk2 onwards Camel twin shock 500s all use the same instrument surround

Thanks for the great information.

A quick searck on Mdina Italia with the part number doesn't show anything. Do you happen to know if they are stil available new from anywhere?

Thanks

Well I am busy with 3D scanning all special parts of my morini's ( 250 2c 350 500 and corsaro ) so that i can print them and use the print for aluminum casting.

as soon as i have printed and scanned the instrument panel for mounting the rev counter and speedo i will post a photo of the aluminum casted one :D

That's exciting news! I was talking to a friend about scanning and SD printing, but the problem is finding an undamaged one from a 250 to scan. He was cautious about finding a printable plastic suitable to withstand the use on a bike. An aluminium casting would of course solve this problem!

This is very exciting news; yes please provide updates on your progress. I was considering creating a suitable cast for the instrument cluster and it's wonderful to learn you're already making good progress with the 3D scanning, etc.
