Strada Hbar Silent Block bushings

Post by tobydmv »

Ok my latest challenge on my old Strada is the HBar P clamp and silent block. Upon removal, one pclamp popped right out of its silent block, and one seized in place. I will never buy another bike from Ohio!! Seems the ID sleeve of the silentblock welded itself to the Pclamp shaft. I'll have to press out the remaining OD sleeve from the top yoke. I've been scrambling trying to find this bushing when it occurred to me, the bushing looks alot like the rear shock silentblock bushing. I may even have an old one at home. I rebuilt my shocks last year but I cant remember where I bought the parts(might have been referenced here somewhere). Does anyone by chance know if these 2 bushings are the same? I'll find out tonight and post up but I'll also need to fix the pclamp. The shaft is covered in the old rubber, bent, and the threads were jacked up. Dont suppose any of you have a spare with silentblock bushing?

here's a very expensive replacement candidate

Well I found some SAE blocks that are very close to diameter. I think the stock blocks are 25.5 or 1"(25.4). I might need some shim stock to fit. I'll update the post.

Kind of look like the shock bushings on a /2 BMW.

Mcmaster-Carr has knobs that are very similar for much less, here's one for $2.31 ea.:

Are the frame threads 1.0 or 1.25? I've never successfully removed those knobs. My 2 bikes both have seized bolts.

I've never seen a Morini with silent block handlebar bushes. I've never known one that vibrated enough to need one.

My '75 Strada has rubber bushes where the handlebar clamps go through the top yoke.

Anyone happen to know if the H Bar risers on the early stradas are the same used by some of the later dirt bikes? These look very similar to my strada risers. It looks like these have a bolt recessed in them for the shaft. My strada part # is 42.08.08.
