Before I put an ad in the wanted section for some hen's teeth, I wanted to garner peoples thoughts on tank badge colour.
I have moulded black plastic ones with white lettering and they're in good nick but the white is very much an off-white, more magnolia, and at odds with the brilliant white 3½ badge. I've tried polishing the letters in case they'd discoloured but it's clearly the colour they were moulded in.
The new ones on the Mdina Italia site look exactly the same as mine and similarly in stark contrast with the 3½ badge.
I'm reluctant to try painting the tank badge, and I get the feeling second hand ones are rare, so it seems I'm stuck with what I've got.
Anyone else had the same dilemma?

Re: Tank Badge Colour
I suspect it is a bit like the 'Fifty Shades Of Red' Morini paint and varies from bike to bike. I always thought that both tank and side panel badges were slightly off white but again the level of 'off whiteness' varies.
Looking at the attached photo.. Are the tank badges off white?.. I'd say so. Are the side panel badges a brighter white than the tank badges?.. Possibly?
You may find that if someone offered you some 'original white' tank badges they may not be particularly 'whiter' than the ones you already have.
I would guess that it would be easier to paint the 3½ badges than the tank emblems. If you didn't want to paint anything yourself I'm sure that Alan Fox could do an excellent job of matching the badges whichever way you want them.

Good luck.

Hi Jen,
I think you're right on all counts.
Given that my tank badges are in good condition but the side panel badges are scruffy, it might make sense to paint those in a less brilliant white:

Hi Howard.
I agree.. Your tank badges look good and it would be great improvement to get the side panel badges to match.
I took this photo of an early Strada outside the Bull's Head pub, Meriden, in June last year....
