Hi Folks,
My bike came with a power dynamo setup. Im facing low charging volts issue. Ive checked the black wires from the stator but the volts are low 13v at idle and at best 17v, not the 50v the docs suggest.
The bike runs ok once started but is a bit of a pig to start, unless nice and warm.
Any suggestions?

Re: Powerdynamo setup seemingly low outpur from stator
Whilst I have no experience of the power dynamo set up, the important bit is what is the battery getting? If it is 13v controlled ( ie vcr out) at idle, thats not too bad. The usual thing to check is at what rpm does it balance out with the lights on. The original (non electric start) models with 100W (ducati) generator would usually balance a 35W headlamp at around 2500rpm.
If the 17v is at the battery, then there is something very wrong with the VCR or it's wiring.

Re: Powerdynamo setup seemingly low outpur from stator
Hi George,
Thanks for your reply.
I wasnt clear enough. Those volts are the AC volts from the alternator output that feedsinto the reg/rec.
What i find puzzling is that the windings on the stator that feed the reg/rec show 0.7ohm, i was expecting a bit more than that.

Thanks George, issue was a duff reg/rec. Replaced that, all good now
