Double drum......

Post by dorsetsport »

One side of the double drum on my `76 sport has been machined out so its slightly larger diameter. I presume to overcome some bad scoring inside the drum, ive had the bike sine `89 so its been like this a while..... As a result its always been a pain to adjust the brake up and get the best out of it.
Now with the bike in the process of being rebuilt I want to iron out this glitch, other than find a replacement ( probably gold plated rare as hens teeth ) front drum does anyone have any bright ideas on modifications so the shoes actually fit the drum properly ? ?

Input gladly received......

Saftek, Cleckheaton.

Measure the drum diameter accurately, give them a ring and send them the backplate. They will reline with a modern material skim to size and send back very quickly by courier. I am getting ready to return my drum brake strada to original spec, and they sorted my bits out very quickly indeed. Also very reasonable - about £35 I think. I was impressed.
