Oil seal circlip rings

Post by Monstyr »

I'm dismantling my forks at the moment and I cant see how to get the circlips holding the oil seals in place removed, it doesn't have any visible purchase point for circlip pliers and I dont just want to lever it in case I damage something.
Is there a trick to them?

As I remember the clip has an angled end, you can get a small screwdriver under it and just gently pry it out without any damage. The real problem I had was the mushroom at the end of the damper rod parted from the rod remaining in the slider, got all back together in the end though.

The circlips on my Paioli forks have a shallow semi-circular protruding bit just before one end and I got a picture nail behind it. I'd given them a good squirt of WD40 the day before as they were corroded into place.
