Very cool, Andy. A mate of mine who races vintage Triumphs asked me about building one of these, but over here in the US they are just as rare as hen's teeth. I can't wait to see the finished product. Hope you can come race it at vintage motorcycle days at Barber some time.

LTR, As much as I would love to go and race it in the States, I think it is unlikely. I live in Southern Spain and unless an unknown rich relative (It has to be unknown, as all the ones I know are broke) dies and leaves me a large pile of cash, it's going to be a bit too expensive.
Nice thought though. Why not buy a 3 1/2 over here and have it shipped to the States. They really arent that expensive in Spain ( I was given my 3 1/2).

I guess I wasn't clear on that - I just picked up a 3 1/2 for a good price (but for sure it wasn't given to me!). I love it, but they just aren't so common over here, so if you want to build a vintage racer you are better off with a Triumph or BSA unless you are rolling in money. You could blow 500 Triumph motors all day and never run out of spares!

But if you tune a 500 triumph motor you will be blowing motors all day(unless you get an end feed crank).
