Hi, are the rear wheel bearings on a 1979 sport 350 known as 6003???? I ask because I am doing abit of a make over on my bike had the wheels powder coated . i have reused the old bearings but they are a bit ropey.
Checked the parts diagram on the Nlm site and it just gives something like 47 14 17 bearings . I typed that in Ebay and it came up with a load of 6003 bearings at reasonable prices . If they are 6003 I might treat the old girl rto a new set
Thanks

I went for Koyo rubber sealed items from my local general spares place which had them on the shelf.

Re: Rear wheel bearings
The wheel bearings are mounted on via their outer diameter. Drifting them out via the inner race means the forces are going through the balls and on a bearing that size you WILL dent (Brinnel) the races. Even if the bearings were good enough to use before you removed them, they wouldn't be by the time you'd got them out.chirpy999 wrote:i have reused the old bearings but they are a bit ropey.
To remove and re-use bearings you have to heat their housing to the point that they more or less fall out.
With a sealed bearing that pretty much means ALWAYS REPLACE.

Don't buy from ebay!I am looking on ebay in the next few minutes.
Whilst many Chinese made (the majority on ebay) bearings are fine, some aren't and I'd not skimp on wheels.
Go to someone like http://www.simplybearings.co.uk and go one step up from 'budget'.
I'd always put sealed bearings back in (2RS suffix).
