Lying speedo

Hi,

Does any one know of someone who refurb's Veglia speedo's? mine is stuck at 20 mph when stood still, and is 8 - 10 mph optimistic. When indicating 40 my satnav is showing 31mph and so on. Is this a common 'quirk' or can this be remedied?

Hi,
You can ask Ashley Pople, aka 'Speedo Repairs'. Whilst he normally deals with Smiths etc, he may well be able to advise you. Just 2 weeks ago he re-bezelled and glassed my speedo/rev counter for £50 including return post. There are others around who do speedo repairs, but I have always had good service from him.
His details are:
AE Pople
c/o A and E Coachworks
Units 12 & 13 The Vehicle Centre
Ash
Aldershot
GU12 6LX
01252-329826
07824-884434

Hope this helps,
George.

PS: The Morini Speedo's, in common with most of the '70s' Italian bikes weren't known as 'Vague-liar' speedo's for nothing!

The speedo on my '82 350K is within a couple of midgies of being spot on when when compared to a satnav.

I was amazed. It's a km/h model, if that makes a difference.

Hi George,

Thanks for the info, Pople is one of the chaps that advertises in the Jampot mag for Matchie speedo repairs :D

Very few people seem to do Veglia instruments.

Peter Bond is one 07780 908833, but he charges something like £150.

My Strada consistently reads 8mph fast, and at zero the needle is reading 8mph, touching the little pin protruding from the dial face. Now that I know what my true speed is, I'm happy to leave it be.

I had a Veglia electronic tacho repaired about 18 months ago by Speedy Cables in S. Wales:

They fixed my broken tacho and refurbished it so it looked like new, charged abot £90.
