Ignition Coil Diode Modification

Hi,
I saw on the morini list an item about modifying the ignition coil by removing the copper plate riveted to the stator plate and replacing with 4 diodes 150v (1.5KE150CA). The diodes have to be fitted to a heatsink and wired in series between the green ignition wire and earth. I am about to fit the mod to my morini and wondered if anyone else had carried out this simple but apparently quite effective modification, and what results they had got.
