My first night time foray

I took the Strada down to my local Harley club (yes I'm a member in both senses of the word) meet on Wednesday as I thought they appreciate some petite Italian Loveliness

Now my question is do the instruments have lights in them or is guesswork the preferred method of riding at night?

On the plus side since giving the carbs a quick balance and fixing the air trumpet it now cruises at 120 km/h very happily with a bit in reserve, and feels a lot smoother at the same time.

Marvelous

Yep, the instruments do have lights in them (at least my 77 Sport does - with electronic tacho). I guess, check the bulbs first. But I also had a problem with the one in the speedo (I think it was) still not lighting. For some reason the bulb holder wouldn't earth against the instrument bowl. Ended up "bodging" a separate earth wire onto it and now they both work fine.

My Morini's clocks have lights in, but I don't think they've ever both worked at once. Unlike the stupidly bright 'lights on' idiot light on my old Guzzi, which was the only reliable bulb on the bike.

Aha all good useful stuff

I'll not get a chance to look at it for a week or so as I have a big weekend coming up. So it'll have to be next weekend

Cheers

There are some nice green LEDs available for the clocks, if you're game. I also fitted LEDs in my lights/high-beam idiot lights and while they're great in the day, they're a tad bright for night.
Cheers,
