Standard footrest 1978 3 1/2 Sport . Any advice on set up of gear linkage would be appreciated, there is threaded adjustment but how much free play is adviseable ?

The adjustment is just to set the pedal at a height that you find comfortable.

I'm not sure what you're referring to by 'free play'. I don't like any slop or wear in the linkage and would replace the stock clevis joints with ball and cup or rod ends.

I have a couple of metres of 6mm stainless rod if you want to use some.Had to get a decent die to cut the thread.
