Hi, i've almost reassembled my 350 strada motor. I've been working on the clutch cover area lately. I went to assemble the kick start assembly and found an extra part. Its a thick beveled washer or spacer shim. I thought it went inside one of the spring retainer cups but the clutch cover would not go on all the way with this spacer instaled. I removed the spacer and installed the kick starter assembly. The cover went right into place with no fuss. That got me thinking that it must be in the wrong place. I checked the manual and it shows the kick start assembly with 6 pieces. No spacer at all. THen I checked the parts book and it confirmed the lack of spacer. It also showed a thick spacer that belongs on the primary clutch shaft inbetween the primary gear and engine case. This looks exactly like the part I have been trying to fit in the kick assmbly. So I installed the spacer on output shaft and everything bolted up. Only now I found this picture on ebay of the kick start assembly.

THe part in question is next to the outer spring cup on the kick shaft. This photo shows 8 pieces including a small spring that looks like its part of the flywheel rotor assembly. Any ideas as to where this washer/spacer?

The Parts diagram shows that this pieces belongs on the main shaft between the clutch drive gear and the crankcase(I think...)

THanks very much. Now I just need to get the crank pulley on. Its a very tight fit. I installed it but the belt teeth wont quite line up now. Guess I need to remove it and then try another key way.

If you didnt change any parts this should be inline, otherwise you change the timing

Mantaray, I completely rebuilt the engine. The old pulley was seized solid on the end of the crank. It was ruined during removal. I'm following the manual to re time the crank to cam. I love this motor but that pulley is giving me terrible grief. Its a very tight fit and if it doesnt line up correctly you have to remove it and rotate until the belt teeth fit perfectly. I tried removing the brand new pulley and it broke off the retaining ring groove and the clip.

There's a bevelled washer between the oil pump drive and the primary gear too as I recall.

It sounds like you have an oversize crank, undersize pulley, or a combinarion of the two.

The pulley should be a transition fit on the crank.
