Supercharged Morini Headed to El Mirage

Hello All,
If my "New" clutch cable makes it in today or tomorrow, then the Morini will be at the El Mirage Event this weekend...
I've changed nothing since Bonneville as I want to see the speed it should have run there....
She's geared for 122.5 mph at 8500 rpm in 6th gear....
This will equal the fastest mile ever run by a push rod 350 anywhere in the world at any time that I can find in the record books.

Sorry to put a can in your spokes, but I regulary use to pull 130+ on my 350 Beart-Aermachi in the early seventies on the long Norwich straight at Snetterton which corresponded to 8200-8500 rpm depending on weather conditions. This was TT gearing and she was only supposed to pull 8000rpm so would have to wind her back. 7800rpm was 127mph (English mph). She was normally geared at max revs 127.5mph which with this gearing would always over rev. I was also a lot lighter then which was probably worth 5bhp.

Thanks Mad Muller for the best wishes,,,,
A very fast bike Harry Muffin,, and I don't doubt your speeds at certain times and conditions. However, it is a lot harder to run at significants speeds on the Land Speed Courses than on paved lower altitude race tracks....
The conditions are night and day different with the heat & high altitude killing off 20% or more of your horsepower, loose salt (Bonneville) or loose dirt surfaces (El Mirage) taking away a few more,,,,, plus, there are no other vehicles to draft with and it is so damn flat you can see the curvature of the earth.
It isn't easy....
Very highly modified Aermachi's currently hold the highest posted push rod 350 speed records: 116 mph at El Mirage and 121 mph at Bonneville...

Well, tomorrow the supercharged Morini heads back to El Mirage for another go…..
Since last month , it has a new chain and rear sprocket with taller gearing to hopefully take advantage of the supercharger's huge torque output, plus "water-injection" to keep overheating away….
We'll see…..

PS: the rev-limiter is switched the other way this time….

NIce job Robert!!
Land Speed Racing takes so much work up front for such an incredibly brief race time. And totally at the mercy of the weather and wind.

Yup, Dr J so know this only too well….
I'm heading to El Mirage tomorrow for the LAST Racing Event of this year….
Next May before we run again…
I hope to coax the Morini up from the last run a few mph.
I'd love to see 115mph before heading into winter season…
