Cambelt brand

Post by Daddy Dom »

Hi there,
I can get a cambelt locally for a great price from RS. It's branded Contibelt, made by Continental tyres. Does anyone have any previous experience to share of this brand?
Cheers,

Hi Dom,

I have been running these for the last few years. Seem just as flexible and within the 6mm deflection after 2 years running between changes.
I bought 5 of them at the time as the price dropped quite a bit, thinking that I could always up the change frequency, but found I didn't need to.
Conti are one of the major toothed belt suppliers here in Europe.

George.

I collected the cambelt from RS and any fears I had were allayed by those assuring words (in engineering terms anyway) "Made In Germany." I think that is all I need to know to be confident and considering the price was under $10NZ, that's roughly 4 of your quids.

Good to hear that the Conti's work well too, I got myself a bunch as well.
I always fitted Mitsuboshi's but can't find them anywhere anymore.

I bought some RS Components belts but they were too long for my 81 350 Sport. An 'A' belt from NLM must have been shorter as it had the correct deflection. I have used an RS belt on my 500 with no problems and I think it had a 'B' belt on it when I bought it.
Hope that helps

The industrial belts from optibelt, Conti o whatever are not measured and suposed to be serie, that means "B" . "A" is shorter "C" is longer. The thing is that also you can buy a Conti that fits a C-wheel (because not measured and therefor much cheaper. They produced the diferent "wheels" only because of the tolerances of the belts.
