Anyone have pics or info of the correct light switch on the early stradas? Mine is double drum brakes and wire wheels. I believe it had the pill/snuff box switches but they are long gone and the bar too. Was trying to put this thing back in order correctly.

I have an early Strada and it has the standard snuff box switch which screws onto the clutch lever clamp.

This is a 75/6 Strada you only get a flash of the switches but can take a proper pic if needed,
Moto Guzzi and Ducati used similar switches but the fixing screws are different distances apart.

Ralph, thanks for the videos. I'm guessing that is CEV kit right? If anyone can point me towards an ebay auction or online listing i'd be very grateful.

You're on the right track there. CEV 169 is the switch to look for but even then I think they can differ with the same number!

Ok is it the screw mount or clamp mount? What does the second switch do? Turn signals...? I'm also missing the twist grip. Are there switches on the right side as well?

You know you can probably find an early road test article online that has a good picture of the control setup.

The CEV 169 switches are available, but there are at least two sizes and the functions vary. On an early bike, the ignition switch turns the lights on and then the bar switch has pilot/main beam and high/low beam switches. You usually get horn and possibly flash. Indicators were an extra switch and make for a pretty awkward setup. This is where the reputation for the switchgear being poor comes from. It's not unreliable, just an ergonomic disaster.

Whilst finding a switch is realatively easy, but usually quite expensive, finding the plastic mounting base can be very hard. You could mill a reasonable facsimilie from plastic, or it would be a good candidate for 3D printing.

The round switch is indicators the snuff box is push horn, one of the others is dip main,
the last side head, the on off lights is on the ignition switch under the front of the seat,
the snuff box is screwed to the clutch leaver mount by the two screws so they have to
be the right distance apart, the twist grip is a two cable one, you will have to ignore
the odd wires and things as they are used to run a GPS and navigate on the Round
Britain Rally.

Ralph's snuffbox and indicator switch are exactly the same as on my '76 Sport. The top rocker switch on the snuffbox is main/dip beam, and the switch on the rear face is for pilot or main bulb. Lights on is done via the ignition switch.

This is similar but don't know about the screw spacing and the cable entry
is not in quit the same place.

See how rounded the corners are? It's a bigger version of the switch.
