Engine oil seal specifications.

Post by 72degrees »

On stripping down the 77 Strada engine that hopefully will power the Forgotten Era Speed Hill Climb project bike I found that several of the oil seals were marked 'DPSM'. They are 'GACO' trademarked. So, for example, the big one behind the clutch is marked DPSM60758.

The manual and parts lists refer only to SM or SMIM seals. Apparently DPSM is equivalent to an APD Hydrodynamic lip type (NOT dual lip).

Anyone else found similarly marked seals.? This useful cross-reference chart suggests that a standard 'R21/SC' will be the same as SM or SMIM but I wondered if the small price premium for GACO DPSM seals is worth paying?

Don't suppose you've got a copy of that chart? The link seems to no longer exist.
