One for the learned or Paul.
I'm at the point of refitting the engine having had the frame newly powder coated, and before anyone asks the swing-arm spindle was a bugger to get out and even harder to get in having replaced the bushes. Perseverance got me there!
Now to my question - The engine has what I would call standard washers fitted behind the nylock nuts and the mounting plates at the front of the engine. No problem there, however there are other washer/spacers ~3mm thick can anyone enlighten me to where these should be positioned please? I forgot to take pictures of how they were prior to disassembly.
Your experience and help is always appreciated.
Thanks
Archie
PS.
Jobs completed so far.
Frame, Swing arm, Stand, Tripple tree and Lower Fork Brace - Powder Coated
New Swing arm bushes.
New Centre Stand pivot bolt and tubing, had to cut out the old one and re-weld the new tubes back into frame lugs.
New Steering Bearings.
New wheel bearings and stub axle bearings and seal.
New Morini and 3 1/2 badges.
New Handle Bars
New front Forks tubes, only found that the old tubes were banana shaped on removal and would have required straitening and re-chroming so cheaper to just buy new ones.
New stainless speedo and tacho mounting bracket incl SS bezels.
Front brake calliper overhaul kit.
Master cylinder overhaul kit.
New front brake pads
Carb overhaul kit and carbs ultrasonically cleaned.
Carb rubbers removed and descaled of rust.

Front Rocker Cover stud hole stripped thread recoiled.
New rocker cover gaskets.
New clutch actuating arm rubber.
New alternator cable seal.
New ignition rubber seal.
New Spark Plugs
Picture as I bought it.

Re: Engine Mounting Washers/Spacers
There are about 3mm washers used for the nuts of the cilinderheads. I don´t remember them for fixin the engine in the frame, but not totaly sure.

Re: Engine Mounting Washers/Spacers
Thanks Norbert, I haven't done anything with the engine and these definitely came from the engine mountings. I amde a point of keeping everything together as they came off! Just can't recall if these were between the engine and brackets or on the outside behind between the washers and bolt and nut heads.
Cheers

Re: Engine Mounting Washers/Spacers
Those 3mm washers were on the engine mounting bolts of my 350 when it was new. They give a stronger clamping of the engine bolts and help stop some of the fretting/movement that you get if standard thin washers are used. I bought my original bike back a few years ago and ordinary washer were fitted with stainless bolts/nuts. It felt like the main bearings were on their way out! I'd avoid stainless bolts here too.
I can't remember if they were fitted to the cylinder studs/nuts as well, but it would make sense to me!

Re: Engine Mounting Washers/Spacers
Thanks Steve, every little snippet helps. I have installed them and have been looking at the parts manual with schematics and they are on it but they don't differentiate from the standard washer and my impression is they fit between the mounting plates and the frame. My thought process was that they would be to do with vibration damping.
Thanks

Re: Engine Mounting Washers/Spacers
Heavy duty washers for engine bolts, not spacers.
