Cam Drive 350 Strada

I am in the process of changing the small cam drive gear on my bike as mine was badly worn so I've purchased a new one from NLM.

The problem that I have is that when trying to get the new one on I managed to get it stuck part way on as its very tight.

I've now got the new one off but in the process the crankshaft was turned out of position.

I've got the Harglo manual and have read the workshop manual that I found online but it seems difficult to get the crank & cam shafts back in the correct position to get the belt on.

I thought that I could simply ensure that the rockers on the front cylinder are at the correct gap then turn the crank so that the woodruff key slots are lined up to the mark on the engine casing and that the piston is at the top of its stroke then fit the belt.

I'm probably being too simplistic but any advice would be a great help
