New 3 1/2 owner

Post by Doughnut »

Just collected a 3 1/2 today.

Starts fairly well, runs very well, clean at all throttle openings.

Sidestand is bent or so, as the bike leans like crazy on it.

Headlight rubber mounts on fork legs perished pretty badly but that's fixable.

So far, no complaints.

I'm pretty sure you'll find the side stand is straight, and the frame is twisted! Never, ever kick start a Morini on the side stand...

Thanks for the info, I won't buy a new stand then :D

Ye, no plans to kick it on the sidestand anyway. Same reason it makes me cringe to see folks spinning huge bikes are on a sidestand.

Is there a way to unbend the frame without breaking or weakening? Or some other way to make the side stand usable

I reckon the only solution would be to Dremel off the tab and re-weld it lower. I Dremel'd off my tab, put on a coat of black paint, and put the stand in a box...

It could be the stand arm itself is bent-that happens as well as the frame damage mentioned above.
Nice looking bike though and a pleasant change to hear it runs and pulls well. Most bikes that change hands don't and the poor new owner has to trawl through all the posts on here about it! :)
Summer is coming and in Leicestershire there is plenty of scope for finding your ideal Morini routes.

I checked today whilst doing an oil change. I confirm a bent frame :(
