Hey,

Has anyone out there replaced their steering lock?
My lock is still good, but I dont have the key.
Is it possible to get new keys via the lock number?
Or can you replace the intire lock?

Thanks,

Ben

I'm in the same situation, so looked on the web a while back. Spotted this web page (see above link ), not sure if the lock is made by the same people, haven't looked into it any further though. So, can't recommend either way.

I'd have thought that NLM would be able to sell you a key if you've got the number?

Let us know how you get on?

Some years ago I got some spare keys from an ordinary locksmith in Bristol (he's since moved mind) but I did have the original.

Have you thought about asking anyone on the forum if they have the same number? Often there's not a lot of variation on locks.

The lock is the same as in the BMW link, though on the opposite side of the steering head.I replaced my BMW one some years ago.

Thanks for all the responces!!!!! :)

That website, is really usefull, I have had a look around for the bmw lock, but no luck soo far :(

Although I have found a lock for a vespa, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0407744887

This seems to be identical to the bmw/morini one, does anyone know if it is?

Have had a look at the lock on the bike, and it seems to be exactly the same to remove as the website says, so im sure that wont be a huge problem 8)

Will let you know how I get on :)

If the BMW lock is the exact same as the morini, I'm surprised you can't find one from a BMW parts specialist. You need to establish whether it's the correct equivalent.

E-bay isn't the sole market place of course...there are plenty of Beemer specialists about

The vespa lock 'cover' plate looks slightly different...maybe the lock is different lgth etc

Have you checked with morini specialists NLM yet? Or other specialists in Europe?
