MRC- latest information regarding Corona Virus

Post by morini_tom »

Covid 19 statement from the MRC

I am sure you are all aware of the sad situation gripping the world regarding the spread of corona virus.

The Morini Riders Club are keen to keep everybody updated regarding events we may or may not be able (or allowed) to host during these times.

Please bear in mind during these difficult times that the club is an entirely volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation. The Committee are continuously monitoring the Government guidelines. Our aim is to mitigate the risks to our members' and the wider public’s health whilst also looking to minimise the financial burden on the club that this year will bring.

We will be keeping you updated predominantly on this forum page and on our website at http://www.morini-riders-club.com/covid19 but should you need to contact us please do not hesitate to. Our contact details can be found in the back of ATG, or alternatively you can email us at:

chairman@morini-riders-club.com
secretary@morini-riders-club.com
membership@morini-riders-club.com
editor@morini-riders-club.com

Wishing that you all stay safe and healthy, and are able to use the time at home to finish those projects lurking in the garage. See you when we’re through this.

Morini Riders Club Trackday 2020- Cancellation

No doubt you were eagerly awaiting confirmation of a place at the Morini Rider’s Club Trackday at Cadwell.

Sorry to have to inform you, but with the current situation regarding Coronavirus, with social distancing and self isolation, the MRC Committee think it morally wrong and an unquantifiable financial risk to the club to pursue the current July date, and we expect it will soon be out of our hands anyway. Unfortunately we are having to cancel the event.

We are investigating trying to hold the trackday later in the year, possibly September when the Covid-19 situation should be clearer, but our current expectation from MSV is that this is very unlikely to be successful. If so, we will have another round of Registration to take place later in the year, if and when it is possible to run the event.

Watch for announcements in ATG and on the website. All those who have already registered will be emailed directly with any new Registration Process if we can go ahead with a revised date.

Please accept our apologies but as you can understand the situation is serious, and so fluid that it is impossible to put in any firm plans at this stage. Thank you for your understanding.

Sad to see this Tom, but entirely reasonable and to be expected. Lets all hope that we have a chance to ride the Morini later in the year, and that we all come through this safe and well...

Good riding, when we can again,

Lockdown may be lifted in stages, or perhaps even regionally, or reintroduced in 'waves' depending on case numbers.

Here in Germany fortunately we have another kind of "lockdown" (and probably your government took too much time to see what was happening).
We have a "contact lock" and are not locked up in the house. That means you can go out taking a walk as long as you are only 2 persons (keeping a distance of 1,5 m when you don´t live together). More than 2 people are allowed only if they live together. To me it makes sense, because we all need to get out of the house especially if the circumstanceses in the families and housings are problematical. Well, we´ll see what works and how in a few weeks.

The danish meeting will be cancelled and we´ll see what happens with the german one in June, it dosn´t look too good

Happy to be able to change the posicion of the carb needles, looking for a propper carburacion, and go for a test ride as long as temperature and rain allows such thing I wish you all the best for this hard times.

Keep your ears stiff, as we use to say over here!

Hello Norbert,

We have the same here. We can go out, but need to keep to no more than 2 people, or family groups living in the same house. Obviously, some idiots do not think it applies to them!

Our friend in Czech is only allowed out in the garden for short periods and must wear a mask.

Stay safe in Germany, hopefully we can all do a Grand Tour of the European Morini Club events next year. The bikes will be reliable after months of repairs!

ATG printing delays

Post by morini_tom »

As you are undoubtedly aware, the world is facing unprecedented times with the spread of coronavirus and many businesses and employees are finding their daily lives changed beyond all recognition as Governments strive to contain and slow the spread of the virus.

Our printers are one such business who are currently closed due to the lockdown. As such, the Committee have taken the decision that we will continue to produce ATG at the normal frequency, however whilst the printers is closed, ATG will be available only in digital form from the members area of the website. Rest assured, we will backfill the missing printed copies to all full members later in the year.

We are aware that other print houses exist, however many businesses will be feeling the strain now, and for a long time after corona virus passes, and we feel that showing some support to our long standing supplier by not immediately taking our business elsewhere is the right thing to do. Additionally, whilst we would love to get paper copies of our magazine to you, we feel that producing and distributing over 400 magazines across the world is not morally wise at this time. We hope that you understand this decision.

The new issue, ATG 365, is available now in the members area at the below link. You will need your members area username and password to access. These were on your 2020 renewal or new member letter, and please note that they are NOT the same username and password as used on the forum. If you are unsure of your username or password, please contact the membership secretary.

We will continue to maintain contact with our members by way of the website, forum and ATG, and we hope that for those of you who are able, some (perhaps long overdue) garage time may be an unexpected consequence of the lockdown (and the Editor would love to hear your tales of lockdown in the garage)

Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you all again as soon as is possible.

AGM and Rally postponement

Post by morini_tom »

Morini Riders Club AGM and Rally 2020- Postponement

Given the current situation regarding coronavirus and the country in lockdown, you will not be surprised to heat that the AGM, originally planned for mid-May must be delayed. The annual rally, due to take place over the same weekend has been cancelled and might not take place at all this year.

The AGM, however, cannot be put off forever and constitutionally we must make efforts to hold an AGM, in one way or another by the end of October. The club’s committee are proposing the following as a way forward for this year.

• In May (the original date planned for the AGM) committee reports shall available to members by publishing them on our website.
• An interim committee for 2020-21 shall be appointed by the outgoing committee comprising officers prepared to continue in their role and replacements for those officers who are standing down.
• The interim committee shall look to holding a face-to-face AGM in the Autumn.
• If a face-to-face AGM is not possible by the middle of September then a distance ballot shall be held to ratify the appointment of the interim committee or to elect
new officers. The exact format of this ballot has not yet been defined.

Every member is entitled to question or challenge these arrangements and should contact the chairman of secretary in the first place.

Obviously this is not at all what any of us want, but the important thing is that we all stay safe, and we will resume normal activities as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

Wishing you all the best of health,

The MRC Committee

2022 club events

Post by morini_tom »

We are planning for a full year of ‘Normal’ events in 2022; plans are in hand for having club stands at all the usual shows, trackday date is confirmed and registrations open, section meetings, the Chairman’s run and of course our AGM and rally weekend.

Of course, we will still be following any local guidance and restrictions imposed by venues we visit.

Details of all these events will be published in the club magazine, but continue to check here for any last minute changes or information
