74 Strada for sale - £1500 GBP

Reluctantly selling my '74 Strada. It's currently on a French registration and I was just about to take it for an MOT, when it occurred to me that with four other motorcycles, two of which require total restoration, I just don't have the space to keep the Strada - let alone the time to tinker with it.

I've spent some time sorting out the initial running problems (cam 180 degrees out of phase by previous owner!) and the machine now runs well. It does smoke a little so ideally could do with a rebore, but I wasn't going to bother at the moment since it's really not that bad.

Generally the machine is quite tidy, it's got a stainless exhaust, a recovered seat, the forks are excellent, I've fitted a Guzzi V50 headlamp to make it UK legal (I have the original). The chrome on the wheels is poor and the paint looks much better in the pic than it actually is. Overall it's a really nice little machine and despite the bad bits is quite presentable, but too many projects and too little space means it has to go.

Reduced to £1500 GBP. I'm in Ipswich. I really shouldn't, but I might be interested in p/ex for a 60s/70s bike of some description.

Photos are those sent by the previous owner and show the original headlight I can email more pics.

That's a pity the bike isn't quite as good as I thought it might be; I was going to buy this bike myself at £700 from the previous owner last year.

Yes, I couldn't believe my luck when I did a deal at £750, but the owner reneged. As I really wanted an early Strada, I later re-approached and bought the bike for a much higher price that, to be fair, reflected the true value of the machine.

Having sorted out the problems I think this is well worth the £1500 I'm asking, which is, more or less, what it's cost me including the original purchase price and transport to the UK.

It's a smart little machine and earlier today I considered withdrawing the ad and keeping it, but I don't think I can get on with the right foot gear change and I've got too many projects on the go.

If anyone is seriously interested then I'd consider getting an MoT so that it's ready for registration.
