I'm looking at selling my '79 3 1/2 Sport which I purchased from NLM 4 years ago. I'm struggling with the riding position due to back problems and am thinking of getting a more modern bike with a more comfortable upright position.
The bike is in a good used condition, not concours. It was MOT'd a few weeks ago with no problems. The whole ignition system was replaced by NLM with their own system after it expired a month after buying it. Covered by their warranty, which they honoured no problem. The bike has not missed a beat since. The swing arm bushes were also replaced by NLM a year ago after an MOT advisory. I have just replaced the cambelt after following Paul Compton's excellent tutorial on YouTube. The front brake master cylinder seals have just been replaced as well. The original red fibreglass front mudguard has been replaced with a stainless steel version. The large indicators with smaller items. Tarozzi rearsets have also been fitted, all the original parts are included. The square back seat has been swopped with a fellow owner for the humped seat.
The bike shows 28128 on the speedo with me having done about 2000 miles since I bought it.
I looking for £3500 ono and will throw in a modern single bike trailer if I get near that figure.

I Agree start at 3750. I advertised the last bike I sold in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. It's free and the phone didn't stop ringing.

Hi, what makes your bike look right are the rear shocks and the seat and the Tarozzis. Has it Electric start ? Its low mileage as well. Best of luck

The indicators are a bit of a let down though

The bike was electric start when new. It had been removed when I bought it.
I think the indicators are better than the enormous originals, which I still have. Didn't want to do without.
Going to put an advert in Classic Bike Mechanics as suggested, especially as it's free.

Why not convert it to a Strada? That should make it more comfy...

Bike looks good - a pity you are selling I'm just down the road at Askam and it would have been nice to see another one or go out on a run-- I think I've only ever seen two apart from the ones at NLM when I've visited. I know what you mean about the bars though mine is definately making me feel my age and I'm thinking of putting a strada yoke on - Duncan

I quite like those - not too small, not too big. Yes, the originals are large but where I live, I want all the indicator I can get. NZers are pretty woeful drivers. My Sport had those dreadful minis on it which no-one can see. Utterly pointless. Either you want traffic to know you're about to attempt a turning or you want a bike that looks "cool" and you get knocked off.

Is yours yellow? If it is I saw it in Tank Square car park, Ulverston a few years ago. I did think about higher bars but have decided to get something more upright and newer. My Missus used to go on the back of my old bikes bur the Sport is a little small I find.
The indicators I would rather do without for looks but think they are a necessity these days, and these are not too small or large. I also wired up a front brake light switch after my brother nearly ran up the back of me a few times. I don't tend to use the back brake much.
