Spanner for metal intake manifolds

Post by morini_tom »

Anyone got (or can recommend a source for) a spanner for the castellated nut on the early 350 metal intake manifold?

It’s smaller than the exhaust nut and access is very restricted so advice on something which works well appreciated.

and before someone suggests, I don’t want to fit rubber intake manifold on this bike (even if they are better!)

I made one ages ago. Still have it somewhere in the garage. Could could deliver to you if it where I think it is.

Hi Tom,

Have found the c-spanner I used (I think it is made of zinc plated cheese!) and the very useful bit - my 'restrainer' for the alloy inlet stub used to make sure the stub doesn't rotate when tightening the castellated nut.
Free except for Thursday evening this week, so let me know when you need them.
Regards,
George

Hi George,

Since the weather has taken a turn I guess the excuse of a ride is less appealing but would be great if I could still borrow the tools.

You’re welcome to drop by mine or I could collect from you tomorrow (Friday) sometime if that suits?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Any chance you could trace the outline of the tool onto a piece of A4 and scan a copy to me ? I`m hoping I don`t need a tool, but if I do I could make one from the drawing ?
Just in case you can, I have pm`d you my email address.
Cheers.

Yes, will do.

I have both the holder George made and the c spanner for tightening the castellated nut.

I bought the below c spanner set too, the larger one is no use on a Morini but the smaller one does the exhaust nut on one end and the intake nut on the other so it’s very useful.
