rear brake adjust

Post by bigred »

Hi. newbie to morini's here. Ive had to completly strip and refurbish the rear brakes on my 1981 500 sport. Ive fitted new seals all round along with new brake pipes and washers. If ive got the brake pedal disconnected and manually press the lever on the bottom of the rear master cyclinder it all works ok and the pads grab the rear discs hard and I cannot turn the rear wheel. If I then connect the brake pedal it does not travel far enough to grab the disc. There is some adjustment in the rod from the pedal to the master cyclinder but not enough. Is this typical? Any suggestions? I can take the rod off and cut more thread. does it need to be a lot shorter?. Currently there is a stop on the underside of the brake lever thats being hit before the brakes activate strongly.

Sorry ive answered my own question by taking the locknuts off the rod and setting rod to min length and its working fine. I will have to cut some more thread to allow the locking nuts to go on.
