500 Strada front forks...........

I am continuing to fettle my Strada and it's coming along pretty well but I have a question about the front forks.

While doing my pretend "MOT test" on the bike I noticed that when you pump the front forks they push down fine but don't seem to return all the way up afterwards. I thought I'd change the fork oil and the fork oil that came out looked like undiluted Ribena. I can't really tell any difference in the fork "bounce" it seems too limp. It rides OK, but what I did think when I put the top bolts back in was how easy it was. When I've done this on other bikes it's been a fair bit of effort screwing them back in. Is that normal that it's easy on these bike or could it be a sign the springs are a bit knackered? Any thoughts gratefully received.

The 31/2 has a spacer above the spring. It requires a push down to be able to screw in the top cap.

I presume the 500 has the same.

Yep, there's a tubular spacer on top of the spring but still very easy to compress
