I need a replacement carb float for my 500 SEI. Current (presume original) floats are part 9010.1. The black version with metal pivot and float arms.

Eurocarb are out of stock but have the alternative white plastic version with the same part number, but the plastic version doesn't have adjustable float height.

Black metal ones are available in the EU, but I can't find any elsewhere in the UK.

Has anyone used the plastic ones? I'm assuming that the float height with a new float needle will be OK as the float height is generic for the PHBH carb and not Morini specific.

I can phone Eurocarb on Tues, but if I have to order from abroad, I can do so sooner and get back on the road more quickly.

p.s. The Eurocarb website states "If the part number/weight of the type required is shown as no stock the white version with the same part number can be used as an alternative." Hence my assumption about float height.

I think it will be dificult to get the old metallic floats anywhere.

The White ones should do. Have a closer Look at them. Often there are overstanding burrs. You should Pass a fine file to take them off! Otherwise they tend to get stuck

Thanks for the advice. I will order one and check it carefully for burrs.

In my experience (on Guzzis) the white floats are rubbish - in short order they begin to fill with gas. The black ones with the stainless bridge are the best type.

I also like the black/metal type but over the years I've had no problems with the white plastic version which have a metal tab for adjustment

Unfortunately Paddy doesn't do PHBH carbs. He was my first port of call.

This indeed! I han once an unexplicable float stuck, in the rear carb of my Dart. Had done thousands kilometers without an issue! Most Morini issues are silly things, this is one of those, but it happened just after refuelling, I had no experience then, got scared of gasoline pouring out of that bleeder tube, and my signorina went back home in a trailer. What a shame!
Silly thing because, after removing right fairing (five minutes), it's dead easy to remove float bowl (single nut below, a bit of gasoline will pour), and tick it with finger to let it free.
Later, I found a bit of time to remove carbs and clean them. Feared at first, it turned out as another pleasing experience. Decided to change needles, as were a bit rusty and sanding them indeed cleans, but completely changes fuel mix. Of course, I shaved those burrs a tiny bit.
