Rust removal

I want to remove some rust from chrome on my bike and have read that SOS pads do a really good job as an initial rust remover.

Any thoughts?

I use WD40 in combination with aluminium 'kitchen' paper, then use Blue Job to make it shine again.

But most Italian chrome are hopeless, especially the rims.
