Gel seat
I'm considering a gel seat for the corsaro to stop ear ache from the mrs during the ride to bologna later this year.
Anyone got one fitted? How effective and what's the quality like? And does it increase the seat height? Suzanne already needs a stepladder to get on.

Gel Seats
I recently put a gel pad on my (don't laugh) Enfield and 'am, well, underwelmed. I did 1,600kms in four days last week (not that much, but a lot on really bad broken roads, and upto 8 hours in the seat at a time) and to be honest I think it made zero difference. I think the shape of the seat is more important to be honest (that or my bum is unsuited to anything but a sofa ?). Get a side car..you know it makes sense.

....and yes if it's a pad they're at least an inch thick..and surprisingly heavy.

Tom, it could be worth trying an 'Airhawk' seat pad. They aren't as thick as quoted for the gel types and you can inflate/dflate to suit yourself. They do 'saddle' shape ones and an oblong pad for pillions. I think they are great, really made a difference on my Matchless twin on it's trips to Germany 2007 and Poland 2008. I got mine from Bykebitz I think, about £50 for a neoprene type.

Wish I had known about the 60 day trial..I tried one on my last bike and found it completely useless.. too much air and it was remote, too little and squeezed out behind you..gave absolutely no feedback or feel while riding and no noticeable improvement in comfort..Flogged it for a massive loss just to be rid of it..Mackia wrote:The airhawk system is quite popular in Australia. Gel Seat
Hi Tom,
Just back from an excelent weekend at Stafford helping out with the MRC stand. As always the company was good (including your Dad). Looking at the postings so far you may be disappointed at the less than positive response. Like you I had been receiving some comments from the other half relating to the Morini seat. I therefore took the trouble to seek out a possible remedy. I spoken to a guy called Marty Walker at Smartrrs Seats. Marty runs his busy from the bottom of his garden in York. Have a look at his site www.smartrrs.com and you will see what he has to offer. I took the trouble of actually calling in, you will need a Sat nav if you do. Cost me a days shopping in York but allowed me to talk to Marty and discuss what I wanted and how he could improve the seat. I then left the seat with him and he reshaped the pillion seat and inserted gel in both rider and pillion seats. The result is a definate improvement although don't expect a complete cure. Was it worth it, definately yes, £135.00 well spent and a pillion seat which is significantly better. One final point he did take a few weeks to complete the work. He is a one man band and he is busy. If you speak with him he will be straight with you if time is an issue. Best of luck and hope to see you at the track day/AGM.

Just goes to show, what works for one butt won't necessarily suit everyone! I was so pleased with mine that I bought another after I forgot to clip the first one on properly, it ended up going walkabout in roadworks on the M2/M25 junction. Why wasn't it secured by my considerable bulk? That's another embarrassing story
You live and learn, eh?
As for the air pressure, it is easy to put too much in, and yes, that will be no good. So will too little. But get it so you are just starting to be supported and it's perfect. I'd buy another again if I had too!
