Well it will be 5 weeks this Friday since placing my order, I have emailed Ugo a couple of times but no reply.

Am I being impatient?

I had the same issue, but arrived after about 4 weeks.

So it will be 6 weeks tomorrow and still no sign of the seals from Zanardini Ugo, I have sent another email, and again no reply.

Really not happy with this, so was wondering.......

Having looked at the part that the oil seal is housed in, it looks like there is a steel washer on top of the seal and the outer edge of the aluminium housing at the top of the nut bent slightly inwards to hold the seal and washer in place. Was wondering if I were to push the bent edges back out I might be able to remove the washer and seal - the seal is probably just a run of the mill 10mm oil seal anyway.

If I could do that all I need do is get a couple of seals and replace them - even if the bent edges broke off there is plenty more material to bend back over to hold the seal in place.

Any thoughts, anyone ever done it or tried it ?

Totally fed up with the bike being on the bench and not being ridden.

Hi Andy, I feel your frustration as I suffered similarly. I sent various emails composed with difficulty in Italian. I eventually received kit. Very poor service to say the least. Others be warned.

It is just plain poor customer service, if someone sends me an email I reply.

Perhaps he knows he has us but the short and curlies as I dont believe there are any other sources of these items.

Grrrrrrrrr, think I go for a pint...........

P.S. I use Google translate to compose my emails - pretty easy to do, assuming it translates correctly

I had to prod him initially as I made a mistake ordering but they did come eventually. That is a long time to wait. I was talking to some Italians on the French Morini Rally and if I had remembered I could have mentioned this . Well when I say talk I use broken Spanish….

I think it would be worth you reading this forum post viewtopic.php?p=25311#p25311 and following the link (if you haven't already seen it). Mine were 9mm but I think the 10mm are similar. I did manage to do what you suggest but the metal is very brittle and even with care you only get one chance at bending it back. I could not find the correct seals for the 9mm which are 9-22-7/9 (the only way I can describe it is the top dust lip 'sticks up' 2mm -> 9mm) but 9x22x7 TC seem to work (I point this out in case the 10mm are similar). I did order the seals from Zanardini who said he could supply the original size but sent the ordinary ones I could obtain in the UK a lot cheaper.

You can peen back the outer alloy lip on the later shocks with the one piece top nut and seal but it's a tricky operation and you really only get one chance to do this as the alloy is brittle and will break easily. I've done it with both 10mm and 9mm types. I got replacement seals from my local branch of Hayley Bearings. I specified 'high pressure' types which if I recall correctly their store manager called 'Babsil' seals. The dimensions are on the top of the old seals. Don't worry about getting exact replacements with the little coned top which is really only a dust scraper. Just keep the rods clean! I used 72cc of 10w fork oil in my 10mm ones ( can't remember if the 9mm types are the same capacity) although I believe the original spec was 5w. Fill slowly and carefully working the damper piston up and down very slowly until all the oil is in.

Going to give Ugo until Saturday, if the parts do not arrive then I will simply replace the seals - not going to even bother wasting time emailing him again.

No doubt as soon as I do this the parts will arrive.............

Quick update.

I was not going to bother contacting Zanradini again, but then again it is £40 odd quids worth of parts.

I very quickly got a reply, aparrently he has had some deliveries "go missing" he did not elude any further, anyway he has kindly despatched me another set of seals, so hopefully they will turn up.

They have arrived - the seal kits that is.

Zanardini said that the original delivery "got lost" so despatched another pair of kits free of charge, so cannot really complain.

Hopefully be fitting them tomorrow.
