Brake Bleed Nipple

I need to replace the brake bleed nipple in the Grimeca front caliper.
Where can I buy the original type that includes a ball?
Or can I use a conventional one with a taper seat?

Ive done the latter before now and dispensed with the ball-bearing.

Ive also spent days trying to bleed a Grimeca caliper before I discovered there was a ball-bearing blocking the passage....reverse bleeding with a syringe was messy

Having a steel bleed nipple bear directly on the seat can tear them up badly over time. Having access to a lathe, I modify standard nipples.

Paul,
That's interesting.
Do you modify the bleed nipple to accommodate the ball bearing?
If that is true what diameter ball bearing do you use?

Old thread resurrection but does anyone know a source for correct replacement bleed nipples / size of ball bearings? I've had to destroy a couple whilst working on getting the brakes sorted on my project. Thanks

The ball bearing rusted in my caliper and wouldn't seal properly. I didn't realise this, and in an attempt to stop the slight weep, I stripped the thread. I repaired the caliper using a Wilwood metric brake bleeder insert. This required drilling and a helicoil. I had to modify the bottoming tap so it would cut very close to the bottom of the hole. Having a decent press drill helped a lot. From memory, I also ground the bottom of the insert slightly for a better fit. All-in-all, it was worth the effort
