Hi,
Does anybody have a template for engine mounting brackets to fit a 501 engine to an early 31/2 frame, please? The engine is the later model with the starter out front.
thanks,
Mike.

Re: Engine brackets
You need the mounting brackets of the early 350 with the three round holes. But you have to do some modifications if you want to keep the modern starter motor. Without that starter there will be no problem with the motor itself.

Re: Engine brackets
Grazie mille, Norbert.
Was thinking of having some made up. I am sure there must be some later 350 engines around too.

Re: Engine brackets
These are the brackets of the old frame
and these for the bended frames (beginning with the first K-model, I think)

Pedro now has my old 501/350 with, I think, the front-mounted electric start , although the starter motor has been removed.

Probably not.MickeyMoto wrote:Does anybody have a template for engine mounting brackets to fit a 501 engine to an early 31/2 frame, please? The engine is the later model with the starter out front.
It has been done, but most people think they later engine is pretty ugly and change at least the left hand outer cases for the early style.
I'd just bolt the engine into the rear mounts and use CAD* to design the front plates.

Re: Engine brackets
Thanks Paul. That was my thoughts too. I will get an engineer to make the brackets from stainless from my templates. I'll use standard bolts, of course.
Mark, I think it is the left hand bracket that is required to get around the starter.
Mike.
