stator position

Post by dunk 1 »

changed the cam belt today for the first time - no problems at all except I managed to wipe off the chalk mark I used to mark the position of the stator. i've set it up in a central position but inj my usualignorance of all thimgs electrical wonder what effect thois will have?- i did by this bike partly to learn and i apologise for all the simple questions as I seem to be learning an awful lot.

No worries, it doesn't affect timing or anything. Having the slots just allows you to rotate the stator slightly to get the mounting screws in (the coils mask the holes slightly)- the screws want to be in the middle of the slots before you tighten them, to avoid any vibration cracking of the stator. Use loctite and don't overtighten.
